Anodised Finishes

Our anodising process creates a strong, corrosion-resistant oxide finish on aluminium and titanium that can also be coloured for a decorative touch. 


At Frost, we offer sulphuric acid and hard
anodising finishes to meet the specific needs of industries such as aerospace, defence, space, and precision engineering. Our coatings are designed for a range of applications, including decorative, corrosion protection, hardness, wear resistance, low friction, anti-galling, and chemical resistance.

To comply with the impending REACH directive, we offer fully compliant alternatives to traditional di-chromate/duplex seals, such as Nickel Acetate, Hot DI Water, PTFE, and our proprietary Trivalent Seal process, all of which can be combined with dyed coatings. Our REACH and RoHS compliant conversion coatings include Iridite NCP & Surtec 650 that for example meet specification Mil-C-5541.  Additionally, we provide anodised finishes to meet various industry requirements for corrosion protection and surface enhancement.


We are accredited to AS9100 to meet the requirements of aerospace and defence customers and have committed to the SC21 supply chain improvement programme.

Our anodising processes include:

Sulphuric Anodising

Ideal for decorative applications with specifications including Def Stan 03-25, Mil-Std-171, and BS1615.

Hard Anodising

A thicker, tougher, and harder sulphuric anodised coating with high wear resistance that meets specifications including Def Stan 03-26, Mil-A-8625 Type III, and BS5599.

PTFE Impregnation

Incorporates PTFE during the hard anodising process to create a low friction coating with hydrophobic and lipophobic properties.
